Do you know about the types of electric vehicles?

However, the market is confused by the flood of different fuel vehicles and their associated terms.

Types of different vehicles

1- HEVs – Hybrid Electric Vehicles

It is an electric and diesel or petrol engine powered vehicle. They are sometimes called “self-charging” but cannot be plugged into the mains. Instead, the battery is charged by regenerative braking and the internal combustion engine. Compared to the other EV types below, they only have a shorter electric range.

2- PHEVs – plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

Like the HEV, this type of car is powered by electricity and diesel or petrol. However, the PHEV is plugged into an outlet or charging station to recharge the ship’s battery. They can run entirely on electric power or a combination of both.

3- BEV – Battery Electric Vehicle

It runs on battery power only which can be recharged by plugging it into your home mains or a public charger. They are zero-emission and have the highest electrical range. They don’t have a small diesel or petrol engine so you can fall back if your battery runs flat.

4- FCEV – Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles

These cars run on compressed liquid hydrogen. The car combines hydrogen with oxygen to generate electricity to power the car. They take no longer to refuel than a conventional car and only discharge water from the tailpipe.
